The N.C. Department of Revenue has published a notice on the impact of the American Rescue Plan of 2021 and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 on North Carolina's 2020 individual income tax return.

Taxpayers who received an extension to file their state individual income tax returns originally due on April 15, 2021, must file those returns by Friday, Oct. 15, 2021.

The North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) announced today that the application period for the $335 Extra Credit Grants is extended again through July 1, 2021 for eligible individuals who did not already receive the payments. 

On May 13, the NCDOR joined the Internal Revenue Service in waiving dyed diesel fuel penalties retroactive to May 7, 2021 through May 21, 2021.

The North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) announced today expanded tax relief for individuals and businesses.

The N.C. Department of Revenue has published a notice about the extension of the individual income tax filing deadline from April 15 until May 17 (which matches the federal extension) as well as adding partnerships and estate and trusts to the extension. 

The ARPA included a provision that makes the first $10,200 of unemployment benefits not taxable for households with an adjusted gross income of less than $150,000. As of the date of this notice, North Carolina law has not incorporated any of the tax law changes enacted in the ARPA. 

A Charlotte woman pleaded guilty Tuesday in Wake County Superior Court to felony tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Crystal Luree Phillips, 47, of Charlotte, pleaded guilty on March 16, 2021 to nine counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 

The North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) announced today that it will extend the April 15 tax filing and payment deadline to May 17, 2021, for individual income tax to mirror the announced deadline change from the Internal Revenue Service.
