The N.C. Department of Revenue (NCDOR) recently announced that they will extend the April 15 tax filing deadline to July 15 for individual, corporate, and franchise taxes to mirror the announced deadline change from the Internal Revenue Service.

The N.C. Department of Revenue has published a notice that outlines penalty waivers for taxpayers related to the coronavirus state of emergency. The waivers are for certain “late action penalties.”

The North Carolina Department of Revenue will officially open the 2020 individual income tax filing season and begin accepting and processing individual income tax returns on Monday, Jan. 27. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will open federal tax filing season on the same day.

The North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) officially opened the 2020 business income tax filing season and began accepting Corporate Income and Franchise, and Partnership tax returns Thursday, Jan. 16. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) began accepting business income returns Jan. 7.
