Raleigh
Feb 21, 2014

RALEIGH – A Lenoir man was found guilty Thursday in Wake County District Court to tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Michael L. Klingler, 59, of 3599 Wilkesboro Blvd., Lenoir, was found guilty on February 20, 2014 to five counts of Willful Failure to File Return, Supply Information, or Pay Tax for the individual income tax years 2007 through 2011.

Wake County District Court Judge Jacqueline L. Brewer consolidated the charges in to two judgments and imposed a maximum 45-day prison term for each. The sentences were suspended and Klingler was placed on supervised probation for 18 months. Klingler was ordered to file all of his personal income tax returns for the tax years 2007 through 2011. He was further ordered to pay a $1,000 criminal fine plus cost of court.

An investigation by a special agent with the North Carolina Department of Revenue found that Klingler was required to file North Carolina Individual Income Tax Returns for tax years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, but willfully failed to file the returns. Klingler is employed by Mike Klingler Roofing in Lenoir, NC.

The charges against Klingler resulted from an investigation by a special agent with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
