The NCDOR Will Accept Individual Income Tax Returns Effective Monday, Jan. 27

The North Carolina Department of Revenue will officially open the 2020 individual income tax filing season and begin accepting and processing individual income tax returns on Monday, Jan. 27. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will open federal tax filing season on the same day.

NCDOR Now Accepting Business Income Tax Returns

The North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) officially opened the 2020 business income tax filing season and began accepting Corporate Income and Franchise, and Partnership tax returns Thursday, Jan. 16. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) began accepting business income returns Jan. 7.

The NCDOR Publishes Updated Sales and Use Tax Bulletins

The N.C. Department of Revenue has published updated Sales and Use Tax Bulletins based on the law in effect as of Jan. 1, 2020. The updated bulletins supersede any bulletins published prior to Jan. 1, 2020.

State Tax Assistance is Available for Deployed Military Members

The State of North Carolina offers tax assistance to soldiers and other service members who deploy overseas to combat zones. The assistance includes extension of deadlines to file and considerations for combat zone pay.

Next NCDOR Business Advisory Council Meeting set for Wednesday, Jan. 8

The N.C. Department of Revenue Business Advisory Council will hold its regular quarterly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 10 a.m – 12 noon, at the agency’s headquarters building at 501 N. Wilmington Street.

N.C. Department of Revenue Publishes 2019 Personal Taxes Bulletin

The N.C. Department of Revenue has published the 2019 Personal Taxes Bulletin.

The bulletin covers the administrative interpretation and application of state tax laws, and includes recent changes to those laws.

National Tax Security Awareness Week is Dec. 2-6

The N.C. Department of Revenue, the Internal Revenue Service, other state tax agencies, and the nation's tax industry recently announced that the 4th Annual National Tax Security Awareness Week is set for Dec. 2 - 6.

NCDOR Publishes New Disaster Relief Notification Forms

The NCDOR has published four new disaster relief notitication forms. The forms are in response to new reporting requirements associated with Session Law 2019-187 (Senate Bill 498) signed into law on Aug. 1, 2019. The new forms are:
