Streamlined Sales Tax®

The Streamlined Sales Tax® Governing Board's objective is to minimize costs and administrative burdens on retailers that collect sales tax, particularly retailers operating in multiple states.  North Carolina became a member state of Streamlined Sales Tax® on October 1, 2005. In doing so, North Carolina adopted the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement in order to simplify and modernize sales and use tax administration for all sellers.
