Mecklenburg County businessman Matt R. Coben, 63, of Boynton Beach, FL, pleaded guilty to three counts of Embezzlement of State Property.
The deadline for filing state individual income tax returns with the N.C. Department of Revenue is Monday, April 15. Electronically filed returns must be submitted electronically by midnight on April 15. For taxpayers filing via paper, returns must be postmarked by April 15 to meet the deadline.
Mecklenburg County businesswoman Trudi Ann Zangardi, 70, of Moorseville, was arrested on felony tax charges of Aid and Abet Embezzlement of State Property.

Taxpayers who file individual income tax returns on a calendar year and received a valid extension to file 2022 returns that were originally due on April 15, 2023, must file those returns by Oct. 15. Since Oct. 15 falls on a Sunday, taxpayers have until Monday, Oct. 16 to file their returns and not be subject to the late filing penalty.
