The NCDOR officially opened business income tax season and is now accepting 2023 income tax returns for Corporate Income and Franchise, Partnership, and Estates and Trusts.

William Louis Willis, 55, of 707 Arendell Street #B, Morehead City, pleaded guilty to five counts of Embezzlement of State Property. The charges were filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Taxpayers who file individual income tax returns on a calendar year and received a valid extension to file 2022 returns that were originally due on April 15, 2023, must file those returns by Oct. 15. Since Oct. 15 falls on a Sunday, taxpayers have until Monday, Oct. 16 to file their returns and not be subject to the late filing penalty.

Wake County businessman Sherief Adel Mansour, 48, of Moncure, pleaded guilty to two counts of Embezzlement of State Property in Wake County Superior Court on Sept. 20.  Mansour is the second person affiliated with The Golf Cart Guys, LLC. to plead guilty to felony tax charges.

A managing member of The Golf Cart Guys, LLC, pleaded guilty in Wake County Superior Court to felony tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Byron Todd Unger, 57, of New Hill, pleaded guilty to three counts of Embezzlement of State Property.

A Warsaw tax preparer was arrested Wednesday, August 9, 2023, on felony and misdemeanor tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

A Triangle businessman was arrested Monday, March 20, 2023, on felony tax charges filed by the N.C. Department of Revenue related to business locations in Durham, Raleigh, and a former location in Chapel Hill. Raed Abdel Karim Amra, 47, of Apex, was charged with 15 counts of Embezzlement of State Property.
