Asheville Businesswoman Charged in State Tax Case

An Asheville businesswoman was arrested Tuesday on felony tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Alisia Lee Parrott, 41, of 10 Arborvale Road, Asheville, was charged on December 5, 2017 with seven counts of Embezzlement of State Property and seven counts of Embezzlement of Buncombe County Property.

Arrest warrants allege that Parrott, President of The Floured Apron, LLC dba/ Everyday Gourmet, aided and abetted the business to embezzle, misapply, and convert to its own use $41,907.44 in North Carolina and Buncombe County Sales Tax from March 1, 2011 through February 28, 2017.  During this period of time, Parrott was the President and responsible person of The Floured Apron, LLC dba/ Everyday Gourmet, which was under a duty to collect, hold in trust, and remit North Carolina Sales Taxes to the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Parrott appeared before a Buncombe County magistrate and was placed under a $100,000.00 bond.  A first appearance is scheduled for December 6, 2017 in Wake County District Court in Raleigh.

The charges against Parrott resulted from an investigation by special agents with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
