  • Business Tax Essentials (2 hours) This seminar will cover the basic requirements to help NC businesses understand the laws and obligations necessary to be a tax compliant business. Participants will learn about filing and administrative requirements, the basics of NC sales & use tax law, and the basics of NC withholding tax law in addition to receiving directions for completing sales tax and withholding returns and for filing and paying online. 
  • Working with NCDOR (Specialty) (1.5 hours) This seminar will help participants better understand how to communicate and interact with the NCDOR.  Participants will learn about their rights as a taxpayer, how to locate available resources, and how to handle audit and collection situations.
  • Planning to Start a Business (Specialty) (2 hours) This seminar provides an introduction to the services and resources offered by state and federal agencies when someone is thinking about starting a business in NC. Participating agencies include the Small Business Administration (SBA), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR), Business Link North Carolina (BLNC) and the Small Business Center Network (SNCN).
  • Starting a Business in NC (Specialty) (2 hours) This seminar covers business formation and registration requirements by state and federal agencies for someone starting a business in NC. Participating agencies include the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR), the North Carolina Secretary of State (SOS), and Business Link North Carolina (BLNC).
  • Growing Your Business: Hiring an Employee (Specialty) (2 hours) This seminar discusses the steps a business must take to hire an employee(s) for their business in NC. Participating agencies include the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR), the North Carolina Employment Security Commission (ESC), and the North Carolina Industrial Commission (IC).  
  • Privilege License (Seasonal Specialty) (1 hour) This seminar will provide a basic overview on privilege license tax. Participants will learn about the purpose of a privilege license, who must obtain a privilege license, and how to apply for a privilege license. 

  • Individual Income Tax Basics (Specialty) (2 hours) This seminar provides an overview of the individual income tax return for the 2021 tax year to help individuals who live or work in North Carolina understand basic individual income tax law and the North Carolina individual income tax return.
  • Understanding Unemployment Compensation and Taxation (Specialty) (1 hour) This seminar will help participants gain a better understanding of filing a claim for unemployment compensation and the taxability of unemployment compensation at the NC state level. In addition, the Employment Security Division of the Department of Commerce will provide resources for someone who has or may receive unemployment compensation. 
  • Federal and State Estimated Individual Income Taxes (Specialty) (2 hours) – This seminar will help participants gain a better understanding of their federal and state estimated income tax obligations. Participants will learn who is required to pay estimated taxes, when estimated tax payments are due, and how to file and pay estimated tax payments. This seminar will include presenters from the IRS and NCDOR. 
  • Estimated Individual Income Taxes (Specialty) (1 hour) – This seminar will help participants better understand their estimated income tax obligations with NCDOR. Participants will learn who is required to pay estimated taxes, when estimated tax payments are due, and how to file and pay estimated tax payments. In addition, participants will learn how to use the NCDOR income tax estimator and how to adjust their NC-4 for withholding if applicable.

  • Sales and Use Tax Basics (2 hours) - This seminar will help participants better understand their sales and use tax obligations with NCDOR.  Participants will receive instructions on how to prepare a sales and use tax return in addition to learning about sales and use tax basics, the most common types of sales and use taxes collected, and how to register for an account in order to remit sales and use tax.  Sales and use tax law changes regarding capital improvements and repair, maintenance, and installation services will not be addressed in any depth during this seminar.  If you have questions regarding this tax law change, please call our toll free number 1-877-252-3052.
  • How to Complete Form E-585 (Specialty) (1.5 hours) This seminar will help qualifying nonprofits better understand the proper procedure for requesting a sales and use tax refund (reference G.S. 105-164.14(b) for more information about this tax law). Participants will focus on the process for completing the Nonprofit and Governmental Entity Claim for Refund of State and County Sales and Use Taxes.  
  • Sales & Use Tax for Nonprofit Entities (Specialty) (2 hours) – This seminar will help nonprofit entities better understand their sales and use tax obligations with NCDOR. The seminar will cover purchases and sales in general by nonprofits, how to apply for a sales and use tax account ID, if necessary, as well as how to apply for a sales and use tax refund account ID if you are a qualifying nonprofit (reference G.S. 105-164.14(b) for more information about this tax law). 
  • Online Seller (Specialty) (2 hours) This seminar will assist online sellers that are “engaged in business” in North Carolina. Areas of discussion within the seminar will include: sellers with a physical presence in N.C., remote sales to N.C., marketplace facilitators and marketplace sellers as well as applying for a N.C. Sales and Use Tax Account ID, if necessary.

  • Withholding Tax Basics (2 hours) – This seminar will help participants better understand their withholding tax obligations with NCDOR. Participants will receive instructions on how to file and when to file a withholding tax return in addition to learning about the basics of state withholding taxes, how to register for an account in order to remit withholding tax, and when State withholding is required for employees and other types of compensation.
  • eNC3 Informational Webinar (Specialty) (2 hours) This seminar covers withholding requirements and procedures for electronic submission of the NC-3 annual reconciliation form and supporting documents through the eNC3 application portal on the Department of Revenue's website.
  • Federal and State W-4/NC-4 (Specialty) (2 hours) – This IRS and NCDOR joint seminar will cover the W-4/NC-4 withholding forms for a new employee and provide resources for calculating withholding and for understanding withholding obligations for both the employer and the individual at the federal and state level.
