The North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) officially opened the 2018 tax filing season and began accepting and processing individual income tax returns on Monday, Jan. 29. The Internal Revenue Service opened the federal tax filing season on the same day.

The North Carolina Department of Revenue’s Rocky Mount service center will open to the public effective Monday, Jan. 29, at 793 Country Club Drive. Taxpayers can visit the service center to respond to an audit, file and pay taxes, obtain tax forms or meet with an NCDOR representative.

A Charlotte businesswoman pleaded guilty Thursday in Wake County Superior Court to tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Effective January 1, 2018, all corporate annual reports must be filed directly with the Secretary of State's Office.

The motor fuels and alternative fuels tax rate for 2018 will increase from 34.3 cents per gallon to 35.1 cents per gallon.

Form E-505 is revised and is available on the Department’s website. The minor revision is to properly reflect the defined term “Mixed Service Contract” at the bottom of page six to correspond with the term enacted by the 2017 Session of the General Assembly.
