North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) is excited to announce an important milestone in our Tax System Modernization initiative. Following a competitive Request for Proposal (“RFP”) process, the NCDOR selected Fast Enterprises, LLC and its GenTax solution as the state’s new tax administration system. GenTax is a proven, integrated solution for tax and revenue administration and has been selected by 35 U.S. state revenue agencies to modernize their tax systems.
The tax system modernization initiative will provide many benefits to the citizens of North Carolina, including:
- Enhanced customer service enabled by a taxpayer portal
- Processing efficiencies realized through improved and expanded electronic services
- Opportunities for innovation and ongoing service improvement
- The ability to be more agile in response to legislative changes
“Our new tax system will help us transform and modernize how we work with taxpayers, and even our legislature,” said Secretary of Revenue McKinley Wooten. “This announcement is a significant step in our transition, and our work on implementing the system will accelerate from here.”
Tax System Modernization will be a multi-year initiative. As NCDOR begins working with Fast Enterprises, updates about the modernization initiative, including estimated timelines, will be shared on the department’s website.
