A Mecklenburg County businessman pleaded guilty on Monday, Sept. 14, in Wake County Superior Court to tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Jason Scott Glunt, 43, of Charlotte, NC, pleaded guilty on September 14, 2026 to 9 counts of Embezzlement of State Property.
Wake County Superior Court Judge Keith Gregory sentenced Glunt to two 16-months minimum, 29-months maximum prison terms. The sentences were suspended for a period of 60 months supervised probation. As conditions of probation, Glunt was ordered to pay restitution of $100,000.00 prior to the plea. The remaining $342,914.04 of restitution will be paid during the course of probation. Glunt was also ordered to immediately serve three days in the custody of the Department of Adult Correction. After the three days of custody, Glunt will be placed under house arrest for 60 days. Glunt was also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service.
Information presented in court showed that Glunt, the majority shareholder of Salud, LLC, doing business as Salud Beer Shop / Salud Cerveceria, aided and abetted the business to embezzle, misapply, and convert to its own use approximately $442,914.04 in North Carolina Sales Taxes (State & Mecklenburg County) during the period July 1, 2015 through December 31, 2019 and January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2024. During this period of time, Glunt was the responsible person of Salud, LLC, and was under a duty to collect, hold in trust, and remit North Carolina Sales Tax to the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
The charges against Glunt resulted from an investigation by special agents with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division in Raleigh and was prosecuted by the Special Prosecutions attorneys in the office of the Attorney General.
