Caldwell County Man Sentenced in Probation Violation

Raleigh

RALEIGH – A Lenoir man was found in violation of his probation on Monday in Caldwell County District Court.

On November 9, 2015, Michael L. Klingler, 60, of 1318 Wakefield Drive NW, Lenoir, appeared in Caldwell County District Court for a probation violation hearing, related to prior sentencing on state income tax charges rendered by Wake County District Court Judge Jacqueline L. Brewer on February 20, 2014.

Caldwell County District Court Judge Clifton H. Smith found Klingler to be in violation of the conditions of his probation, after Klingler failed to comply with the previous order to file his delinquent North Carolina Individual Income Tax Returns for 2007 through 2011. Judge Smith sentenced Klingler to 45 days in jail, and also extended his probation period by 12 months.

The case was originally investigated by a special agent with the North Carolina Department of Revenue’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.  That investigation showed Klingler was  employed by Mike Klingler Roofing in Lenoir, NC, and failed to file individual income tax returns for 2007 through 2011.
